Community Centre

Pallaskenry Community Centre was originally the three classroom National School built in the reign of Rev. John Bourke, P.P., in 1886.  This building replaced a smaller thatched structure located in Market Lane. The building was taken over by the Community Council and over the intervening years it have been refurbished. The refurbishing works included a new roof, a flat roof extension, disabled toilet facilities, an electric heating system, emergency lighting, and today this building is a tribute to the Council who make the centre available to the wider community at a very reasonable rent. Any activities involving the older citizens of our community are free. This covers the Weekly Card Drive and the annual Christmas party. There is a resident Play School in the building which has operated from this building for over last 20 years. Providing Pre-school education to the children of the area.  Numerous community groups use the building for their activities during the week, culminating in the Weekly Card Drive on Sunday night. The Community centre is also available for private functions such as birthday parties.
